Seating assessment, Postural care and Equipment needs

Our physiotherapists can assess seating requirements and provide wheelchair assessments for individuals.

Medical conditions, reduced physical strength, changes to tone and posture, cognitive impairments and behavioural issues can all have an impact on posture and the ability to sit unsupported.

Being able to sit comfortably in a chair can have a significant improvement in an individual’s quality of life. They are able to engage in their surroundings, interactive with other people, improve quality of eating and drinking and can improve mood and mental health.

Our seating specialist physiotherapists are able to fully assess an individual’s needs and requirements. This involves a comprehensive assessment with consideration of:

  • Pressure areas and skin health

  • Medical issues

  • Cognitive function

  • Physical ability

  • Sitting balance

  • Behaviour

  • Tone, posture

  • Alertness

  • Comfort.

We are able to advise on appropriate seating and wheelchairs, 24 hour postural care and sleep and sleeping systems.

Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists can also assess equipment needs such as looking at how you get in and out of bed, move around in the bathroom, on/off the toilet or chair as well as accessibility to your property. We are able to assess for walking aids and equipment. Having a comprehensive equipment assessment can help to reduce your risk of falls and enable you to move around the home easier.

Our physiotherapists can help to maximise comfort and improve well-being.
