Your senior physiotherapist will discuss your requirements and goals of acupuncture over the phone before your first visit and check the treatment will be suitable for you. They will also check any contra-indications to treatment before booking you in.
On your first visit your physiotherapist will take a detailed medical history and discuss your concerns and reasons for treatment. Following this, if appropriate you will receive your first treatment. Your physiotherapist will determine which point placement to use for acupuncture depending on your aims of treatment. A holistic approach will be used to ensure the best possible outcome for your session, taking into account all areas of concern and well-being.
Small, fine, single use, sterile needles will be used. You may feel a slight pin prick when the needle is inserted but it shouldn’t cause you any pain.
After your treatment you may feel tired, drowsy, relaxed and will be advised to drink plenty of water. You may find you sleep well that evening after your treatment.
