Enhancement

Cosmetic acupuncture is an emerging treatment in aesthetics offering a natural, effective treatment to help reduce the signs of ageing. More people are looking for natural alternatives to surgery or chemical treatments for their skin. Cosmetic acupuncture can improve the long term health of the skin, treating more than just the superficial signs of ageing. Acupuncture is also know to help optimise health, restoring homeostasis within the body.  Improved sleep, circulation, mood, stress reduction and improvement in overall well-being are other known benefits, helping to decelerate the ageing process from within and restore a youthful appearance.

FACE the benefits

  • reduction in fine lines and wrinkles

  • stimulates the production of collagen and elastin

  • increased oil and water content

  • lifts sagging skin

  • brighter complexion

  • improved blood flow to tissues and skin

  • helps to even skin tone and pigmentation

  • reduces puffiness and darkness around the eyes

  • promotes lymphatic drainage

FACE the facts

After a full assessment, tiny, fine needles are inserted into the skin at specific points. The insertion of needles creates positive microtrauma producing a localised inflammatory response. This generates changes in vascular permeability and dilation, stimulating the healing process. New cell regrowth and regeneration occurs increasing the production of collagen and elastin.

Acupuncture has been shown to enhance facial rejuvenation (Ameis et al, 2011), stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin demonstrating improvements to skin elasticity (Yun et al, 2013). Furthermore, the production of oil and water content is increased which naturally depletes with age.

There is sufficient evidence now to show the benefits of the use of acupuncture for many different disorders as well as more emerging evidence for its use in cosmetics. Acupuncture helps to restore balance within the body by stimulating the central nervous system. Our body’s own natural chemicals are released by the brain facilitating the body’s own natural healing process (Li et al, 2013) as well as helping to regulate essential functions of the body.  Stimulation of the circulatory and lymphatic system can help to even out complexion and aids delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the skin.

A course of acupuncture can help deliver long term changes to the skin and body, enhancing your overall well-being.

FACE the treatments

Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural, holistic, anti-ageing treatment, involving no chemicals or “quick fixes”. On your first visit you will have a detailed consultation with your practitioner. During the treatment, fine needles will be inserted into specific points on the face and body. The treatment will be followed by a face mask and jade roller to further boost circulation and ease tension.

A treatment session is around 60 minutes and a course of 6-12 treatments is recommended to achieve the desired results.
